Two Myanmar military interrogation centres were bombed on October 12th, local news media reported. One was in Hlaing Township, on Bayintnaung Road, better known as the No.1 Bayintnaung Interrogation camp.

Witnesses said the attack occurred at around 6pm and that soldiers stationed there blindly returned fire. They guessed that the explosive is likely to have been dropped from a drone.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Another incident occurred about two hours later in Mayangone Township, and a group called the Human Rights Defenders claimed responsibility.

While the current administration’s security forces have been largely successful in quelling large-scale anti-military action against them, shootings and bombings are still regular occurrences in major cities, such as Yangon.

In rural areas, open battles continue to be waged.

On October 11th, in Banmauk Township, on the border between Sagaing region and Kachin State, State Administration Council troops and combined troops of the People’s Defence Force, led by the ethnic armed force Kachin Independence Army, clashed.

There were six casualties on the anti-military side and many more among the military, as well as arms and ammunition, left behind after a hasty retreat, being seized.
