Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai airport’s runway closed for three more days

Thailand’s Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai international airport has announced that its runway will remain closed until Wednesday night at 10pm, as workers try to move a Nok Air aircraft, which is partially blocking the runway after it partially skidded off it in heavy rain on Saturday night.

In the announcement, issued today (Sunday), the airport said that passengers who have not yet claimed their baggage can contact the luggage section at the airport or the airline.

The Nok Air Boeing 737-800 left Bangkok’s Don Muaeng airport at 8.03pm with 164 passengers and 6 crew on board. The plane arrived at Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai international airport at 9.06pm in heavy rain and skidded off the runway as it was taxiing towards its parking bay.
