Craving a tasty croissant to enjoy with your cappuccino but not happy about having to queue, particularly in the new Covid world? The good news is that you don’t have to, as we’ve discovered four places that offer the delicious crescent-shape pastries and while they are not on Bangkok’s most sought-after croissant list, they taste great, are made with fine ingredients, and are perfect for dunking. Better still, they are very reasonably priced.
Le Neuf Bistro
From its location and décor, Le Neuf Bistro probably wouldn’t conjure up an image of delicious dining Western style. But don’t let looks deceive you. The shophouse by Rama 1 Road offers nice fusion dishes at affordable prices.
The croissants here are mini-sized which is good for anyone watching a waistline. It also means you can have two of the pastries with your coffee in the morning. A set of croissants (seven pieces for 200 baht) comes with homemade marmalade.
Le Neuf is open in the afternoon and you should call to place an order at least 20 minutes in advance. The set will be ready for pick it up in the evening before heading home. And they’ll still be good when you warm them in the morning.
Le Neuf Bistro is located on Rama I Road, opposite Lotus’s Rama I branch. It is a part of Stadium One, so parking is not a problem.

Anyone who has grown up with the Japanese-style pastry shops in the Sukhumvit area will know how delicate the baked goodies can be. Despite its unusual location, this shop offers equally delicious pastries at more affordable prices. They have all pastries you can think of, from Danishes to pies and baguettes.
Croissants are one of the best-sellers and come as they are or with different fillings. Choose from plain croissant (32 baht), almond croissant (37 baht), ham-cheese croissant (37 baht), chicken sausage croissant (37 baht) or blow your diet with a Petit Pain au Chocolat for 35 baht.
Croissants here are not as big as those from famous shops, but they are the perfect size for Thais who prefer the pastry as a snack.
Avoid weekends if you want to make sure you can pop into the shop and get a few pieces. There are crowds, with cameras, running after croissants in town to share their selfies on social media. The best thing here is you don’t need to queue to get a croissant. You can always call and reserve your croissants and pick up anytime.

Folies de Bangkok
What guarantees the original taste of a croissant here is the bakers’ experience. For years, Folies has been a household name for expats and locals in Silom, Sathon and Nanglinchee.
The huge croissant variety includes ham-cheese croissant (80 baht), almond butter croissant (60 baht), jumbo chocolate croissant (55 baht), French butter croissant (60 baht), Thai butter croissant (30 baht), and a set of five mini French butter croissants (120 baht).
If you enjoy a crispy pastry, try their puff and pie selection, which includes sausage roll (50 baht), curry chicken puff and tuna puff (50 baht), and raspberry butterwind (45 baht).
Ready-to-bake croissants are also on offer so you can just have one anytime you like without having to wait. A pack of 20 pieces of mini French croissant is 400 baht; a pack of five French butter croissants is 270.

Nobody would go to the giant Swedish outlet Ikea just to buy a croissant but if you visit the store, go to the restaurant side and if you’re early enough and lucky enough, you’ll get the chance to grab some croissants to take home at the very affordable price of 25 baht. Ikea croissants are meant as sides to go with its various dishes including the famous meatballs. Bring your own bag or container to take the croissants home. Alternatively, you can ask the sales staff to give you an environmentally friendly paper box.
Sometimes, Ikea restaurant also offers chocolate croissants or Danish pastries. The plain or butter croissants are on the buttery side and not flaky. They taste good the next day too. Warm in the microwave for one minute and you’ll get the best thing next to a freshly made croissant.
