Leicester City players fly to Vichai’s funeral in Bangkok

Leicester City fans holds up a commemorative banner for Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha after the Premier League match between Cardiff City and Leicester City at Cardiff City Stadium on November 3 in Cardiff, United Kingdom.

Leicester City fans and players paid emotional tributes to Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who died in a helicopter crash last week, ahead of Saturday’s Premier League match against Cardiff City.

Meanwhile, Leicester City players and officials are on their way to Thailand to attend the funeral of their club’s owner at Wat Thepsirin.

His Majesty the King has provided funeral water and bestowed an octagonal funerary urn for the royally-sponred funeral rite.  Several prominent business and political figures and celebrities attended the first day of the rite yesterday.

The Leicester City players will be attending services on Sunday and Monday after beating Cardiff 1-0 in the first game since his death.

Before the match they wore T-shirts featuring a picture of Vichai while fans held banners expressing their condolences.  They stood for a minute’s silence along with Leicester City staff and fans ahead of the kick-off.
