Chartthaipattana has become the latest party to join the Pheu Thai-led coalition, its leader Varawut Silpa-archa announced today (Thursday).

The number of House seats in the 9-party coalition is now 238. Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai, core members of the coalition, it targeting a parliamentary majority of 251 seats.

In addition to the two core parties, others agreeing to join the coalition are now Prachachat, Thai Liberal, Chart Pattana Kla, Pheu Thai Rumphalang, Plung Sungkom Mai and Thongthee Thai and Chartthaipattana.

Varawut said that he wished to thank Pheu Thai for inviting them to join the coalition.

He agreed to accept the invitation after discussing strategies and the positions of both parties and found that they share similar attitudes. His party will help campaign for Pheu Thai’s prime ministerial candidate and for the government to be set up.

Varawut was speaking at a joint press conference with Pheu Thai leader Cholnan Srikaew and other senior party members.
