King takes deceased SEAL member under royal sponsorship

His Majesty the King has given an instruction for Warrant Officer Saman Kunan to be brought under the royal sponsorship after the retired Navy SEAL member died while performing a mission to rescue the 13 trapped in Tham Luang cave in Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai.
Rear Admiral Apakorn Yukongkaew, commander of the Navy SEAL unit, said all SEAL members are well-trained and will never carry out any mission without a plan.
“We have been trained to work under pressure. Sickness and death are what SEAL members have to encounter. We will not lose our morale because of what happened today. Our workforce is committed to continuing to rescue the Moo Pa soccer team members until the mission is completed, so the loss of Warrant Officer Saman will not have been in vain,” he said.
Rear Admiral Apakorn said His Majesty the King has taken the body of Saman under the royal sponsorship. Saman will be treated with honor in return for his sacrifice, he added.
He insisted that the rescue operation will continue until the mission is completed.
