Hundreds of nude swimmers take the plunge in Sydney Harbour

Over 1,000 people disrobed and plunged into Sydney Harbour on Sunday (March 12) as part of an annual nude swim to promote skin cancer checks.

Organisers of Sydney Skinny said they were hoping to break the world record for most nude swimmers set in Ireland by 2505 women in 2018.

Around 1300 people were estimated to have bared all in the event at Cobblers Beach, local media reported, falling short of the record.

Sydney Skinny was taking place for the first time since 2019, due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

This year’s nude swim was held in collaboration with the charity Skin Check Champions, which aims to improve awareness of skin cancer.
