Sad images of wild animals, including squirrels, snakes, lizards, turtles and monkeys, that could not escape the fire that burned over 120 hectares of Hua Pa Khiew swamp forest in Talay Noi of Khuan Khanoon district, Pattalung province for several days.

Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation to prevent the fire reaching the nearby ‘Ramsar’ Site, which over 200 bird species use as their nesting area.

The fire has caused immeasurable damage to Thailand’s ecological diversity and richness, according to Mr. Satit Chaisuwan, a disaster relief volunteer.
