Highways Dept. offers 27 camp sites for public to pitch tents during Songkran

Thailand’s Highways Department has opened its 27 camp sites, near tourist attractions in 13 provinces, for members of the public to pitch their tents during the Songkran break.

The department’s director-general Sarawut Songsivilai said today (Wednesday) that there are the sites are open to the public until Monday for free of charge and they have room for car parking and tents.

There are officials at each location to assist the visitors and each location is equipped with toilets and bathrooms.

Those interested in using the facilities can call the department’s 1586 hotline around the clock or contact officials at the locations. Information about the camp sites is also available from the department.

The camp sites are in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son, Lampang, Kamphaeng Phet, Sukhothai, Phitsanuloke, Phetchabun, Tak, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Bueng Kan and Loei.
