Highways Department to improve bus shelters in Si Sa Ket province

Proto: Department of Highways

The chief of the Highways Department has promised to make changes to several bus shelters, along the Si Sa Ket-Wang Hin highway, after they were criticized on social media for being impractical.

Mr. Saravuth Songvilai said today that he has ordered officials to install awnings on the front and back of the bus shelters, to provide shelter against rain and sunlight, and to improve the surroundings of shelters to improve their esthetics.

The highways chief explained that the more usual bus shelters could not be built because of limited roadside space, hence the new design.

Construction of the new shelters started on February 12th and was completed in this month.

Netizens complained that the shelters cannot protect waiting passengers from rain or sunlight and that the seats are too low.

Mr. Siri Singharat, an assistant engineer on the Si Sa Ket-Wang Hin highway project, said that the shelter design looks modern and eye-catching and that the shelters are stronger than the old ones.
