Bangkok city center and its suburbs were hit by strong winds and heavy rain on Friday afternoon (June 7), causing floods and traffic snarl-ups in Chatuchak Weekend Market, Ramkhamhaeng, Phaholyothin, Kasetsart, Prachacheun, Prachanukul, Ladphrao and Ratchadapisek.

The twitter account of Jor Sor 100 traffic radio was also inundated with images of flooded roads and damage caused by the downpour. A picture by @MeDDSaiL Angry MoM shows cars parked in the Rama 9 area submerged up to the passenger seats.

Another image shows the Ladphrao junction, which is heavily congested at the best of times, totally inundated.

Lengthy traffic queues are expected as the end of week Bangkok rush hour kicks in, especially in areas such as Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi.
