Health-threatening level of PM2.5 dust covers areas of Bangkok

62 areas in Bangkok and its suburbs have been experiencing health threatening levels of PM2.5 particulate matter in the air, measuring between 92 and 103 microns, since this morning (Saturday).

According to the Pollution Control Department’s readings at 7am today, 47 areas in Bangkok had excessive amounts of PM2.5 dust. The areas where the risk to health is greatest include:  

  • Din Daeng Road in Din Daeng district, 92 microns
  • Rama III-Charoenkrung Road in Bang Khor Laem district, 92 microns
  • Petkasem Road in Phasi Charoen district, 96 microns
  • Samsen Road in Phra Nakhon district, 103 micron

Ten areas in Bangkok’s suburbs were also found to have excessive levels of PM2.5 dust, though not as high as the worst affected areas of the city. They are:

  • Tambon Bang Kruei in Bang Kruei district of Nonthaburi province
  • Tambon Bang Pood in Pakkred district of Nonthaburi
  • Tambon Klong Noeng in Klong Luang district of Pathum Thani
  • Tambon Song Khanong in Phra Pradaeng district of Samut Prakan
  • Tambon Bang Prong in Muang district of Samut Prakan
  • Tambon Talad in Phra Pradaeng district of Samut Prakan
  • Tambon Pak Nam in Muang district of Samut Prakan
  • Tambon Om-noi in Krathum Ban district of Samut Sakhon
  • Tambon Mahachai in Muang district of Samut Sakhon
  • Tambon Nakhon Pathom in Muang district of Nakhon Pathom
  • Tambon Bang Sao Thong in Bang Sao Thong district of Samut Prakan
