Health official asks locals to be calm over the arrival of infected for isolation in their province

The provincial health chief of Ubon Ratchathani province, Dr. Suvit Rojanasaksothorn, has appealed for public calm over the arrival by train on Monday of COVID-19 infected natives of the province, travelling from Bangkok for home or community isolation.

He said that about 40 infected people are to disembark in Warin Chamrap district, of the 1,490 travelling on the special train to their home provinces in the Northeast.

He said that most of the passengers will disembark in Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin and Si Sa Ket provinces, adding that, initially, a total of 294 had expressed a wish to travel on the train, but many of them changed their minds and chose other modes of transport, leaving only about 40 to travel to Warin Chamrap district.

Special transport has been arranged to take the infected directly to their home or community isolation facilities.
