Government considering sending security officials to oversee Bangkok’s construction sites

The Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) mentioned today that it is considering sending in security officials, police and military officers, to oversee construction worker housing facilities, as one of the stricter measures to deal with the current outbreak.

Bangkok has 575 such locations in 50 districts, housing almost 80,000 Thai and foreign workers.

The CCSA said the management teams of these places have been very cooperative, in efforts to control the outbreak. If the situation is not brought fully under control, however, the measures would have to be adjusted. The CCSA has contacted the Interior Ministry to deploy military and police officers, to oversee all 575 facilities in Bangkok.
