Hundreds LGBTQ+ couples in Thailand flocked to district offices across Thailand to tie the knot, following the official enactment of the marriage equality law on January 22. This makes Thailand the first country in Southeast Asia and the third in Asia to recognise same-sex marriage. A total of 2,799 LGBTQ couples who registered for their marriage were recorded on January 23rd, with 661 in Bangkok, according to Bangkok Pride.
