Future Forward repeats demand for poll re-run in Nakhon Pathom

Refusing to accept defeat in Nakhon Pathom’s confused Constituency One election, allegedly caused by vote count flip-flopping, the Future Forward party has reiterated its demand for an election re-run to clear the air once and for all.

In a statement issued today (Wednesday), the party claimed that the ballots cast in Constituency One had been counted five times, each time producing different results with the winner and runner-up switching back and forth between Future Forward’s candidate, Ms. Sawika Limpasuwanna, and the Democrat candidate, Lt-Col Sinthop Kaewpichit.

In the first count, on March 24th, the Democrat candidate was declared the winner with 35,615 votes against Ms. Sawika’s 35,762 votes.

In a second vote count a week later, the result showed Ms. Sawika beating Sinthop by a razor-thin margin of just four votes.

On April 28th, however, the Democrat party claimed its candidate beat Ms. Sawika by four votes.  The Democrat received 35,711 votes against Future Forward candidate’s 35,707.  On the same day, Mr. Chatchai Chanpraisri, an election official, declared Ms. Sawika the winner beating Sinthop by 62 votes.

The following day, EC secretary-general Jarungvuth Phumma declared Sinthop the winner beating Ms. Sawika by a margin of just four votes.
