Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health is providing free COVID-19 rapid antigen tests to the public, until January 3^rd, at Mor Chit bus terminal and Hua Lamphong railway station.

Disease Control Department Director-General Opart Karnkawinpong said that the free service is part of the universal prevention measure for those who travelled back home or to tourist destinations over the New Year break, to ensure they are not infected as they return to Bangkok to resume work on Tuesday.

Those wanting to get tested can register in advance through QR Code ICN Tracking or can just walk in to either of the two facilities, where they will be required to produce their ID cards to register and will then be given a four-digit registration code.

Each will receive an antigen test kit which is then handed to officials, who will conduct the swab tests. Test results will be known within 30 minutes and the test subject will be informed via the “Mor Prom” application or by QR Code scanning and entering their ID card and phone numbers.

Today (Sunday), the COVID-19 Information Centre reported 3,112 new COVID-19 cases and 12 more deaths in the past 24 hours. 2,911 patients have recovered and been discharged today and 33,108 are still being treated in hospitals.

In the eastern province of Chon Buri, the provincial communicable disease committee issued an order yesterday requiring all staff and musicians, working in restaurants or venues which serve alcohol in Pattaya and Nong Prue municipality in Bang Lamung district, to undergo antigen tests on a daily basis. Customers will have to show proof that they tested negative within the 72 hours prior to their visit to such venues.

The intensified measure is in response to a spike in new infections in Chon Buri province. 442 new COVID-19 cases were recorded there in the past 24 hours, as clusters of infections were reported among the military in Sattahip district.
