Flood warnings for six southern and eastern provinces until Sunday

People living in six southern and eastern provinces of Thailand have been warned to brace for sudden flooding and flash floods due to heavy rain and accumulated downfall until Sunday. The warning is due to the strengthening of the southwestern monsoon, which is looming over the Andaman Sea, the Gulf and the southern region.

The Meteorological Department forecast in its announcement today that there would be heavy and isolated very heavy rain in the eastern provinces of Chanthaburi and Trat and the southern provinces of Ranong, Phang-nga, Phuket and Krabi until Sunday.

Rough seas in the Andaman Sea with waves between 2-4 metres high and choppy seas in upper part of the Gulf with waves between 2-3 metes high were also forecast, and sailors are advised to exercise extra caution and avoid storm areas where the waves may reach over four metres.
