Excessive PM2.5 in Bangkok’s atmosphere on Sunday

PM2.5 dust in the atmosphere of most of Bangkok today (Sunday) exceeds the 50-micron safety level and the air pollution is likely to worsen and begin to impact health in the days to come, according to the Bangkok Air Quality Information Centre.

The levels of PM2.5 in Bangkok were measured at 38-70 microns between 9am and 11am, averaging 50.7 microns, with 35 areas recording excessive levels of dust.

The areas with higher PM2.5 levels include Samphanthawong, Wang Thong Lang, Pathumwan, Bang Rak, Yannawa, Bang Kapi, Lat Krabang, Thon Buri, Khlong San, Phasi Charoen, Bang Khen, Sathon, Khlong Toei, Bang Sue, Lak Si, Bueng Kum, Suan Luang, Khlong Sam Wa, Pom Prab Sattru Phai , Din Daeng, Phra Khanong, Bangkok Yai, Thawee Wattana, Nong Khaem, Bang Bon, Bang Na, Kanna Yao, Min Buri, Nong Chok, Prawet, Don Mueang, Queen Sirikit 60th Anniversary  Park in Lat Krabang, Seri Thai Garden, Nong Chok Park and Suan Luang Rama 8 Park in Bang Phlat.

Air pollution in Bangkok and its suburbs are forecast to worsen from Wednesday until Friday, due to increased amounts of dust in the atmosphere in some areas.

NASA satellites have not detected any hotspots in Bangkok.
