The Education Ministry has cancelled a parade on Monday, planned at the Suphachalasai National Stadium to celebrate the 103rd anniversary of Thai Red Cross Youth, due to the high levels of airborne pollution in the capital.
The ministry’s spokesman, Siripong Angkasakulkiat, said that the decision was made out of concern for the more than 5,000 Red Cross Youth members who would participate.
Celebrations in other provinces that are not impacted by PM2.5 pollution can proceed as scheduled.
Religious rites at the stadium will, however, go ahead as planned and can be watched online via the ministry’s Facebook page, the spokesman said.
