Air quality in Bangkok has deteriorated further today, with the amount of PM2.5 dust in the atmosphere reaching the health-threatening “orange” level in all 50 districts, reported the Air Quality Information Centre of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
The average level of PM2.5 in the city’s atmosphere was measured at 47.6 microns (µg/m³) this morning, which is well above the safe level of 37.5µg/m³.
The five most polluted districts are Nong Khaem (56.7µg/m³), Khlong Sam Wa (56.4µg/m³), Thon Buri (55.3µg/m³), Nong Chok (55.2µg/m³) and Min Buri (55.2µg/m³).
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department forecasts that the strong cool weather system, which is currently blanketing the north and northeast of Thailand, as well as the South China Sea, will weaken over the next 24 hours, resulting in slight warming.
Morning fog is forecast for most of the north and northeast and the weather will remain cool, and even cold in mountainous areas. The central region, including Bangkok and its peripherals, the east and the northern reaches of the south will remain cool.
Tomorrow, minimum temperatures in and around Bangkok are forecast to range from 16-18oC, 13-17oC in the central region, 8-14oC in northern provinces and 7-13oC in the northeast.
