Renowned Thai actor and television personality Ray MacDonald was found dead at his home in the Pattanakarn area of Bangkok this morning. He was 49.
The actor is reported to have passed away at around 7am.
Born on May 21, 1977, MacDonald was of mixed Thai and Scottish heritage.
He spent his early childhood at Ekkamai Kindergarten before attending Traill International School for his primary and secondary education. During his school years, MacDonald was an avid footballer who captained the Thamrongthai Association Youth Team. He led the squad to a runner-up finish in the under-11 division at the Gothia Cup in Sweden, playing alongside future stars, including actor Shahkrit Yamnarm and former national player Anurak Srikerd.
He later received a scholarship to study at Millfield School in the United Kingdom, before returning to Thailand to launch a career in the entertainment industry.
MacDonald went on to establish himself as one of Thailand’s most talented screen performers.
He won the Suphannahong National Film Award for Best Actor in consecutive years. In 1997 he won for his breakthrough role in ‘Fun Bar Karaoke’ and won again in 1998.
He also received the 7th Kom Chad Luek Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the 2009 hit film ‘Dear Galileo’.
