Eight suspects in fatal shooting of teacher and student in custody

Eight people, suspected of involvement in the killing of a female school teacher and a vocational student on Sunthorn Kosa Road in Bangkok’s Khlong Toei area on November 11th, have been arrested by police in coordinated raids on five locations in Nonthaburi province and Pathumwan district on Wednesday morning.

Armed with a warrant, police searched a house in Thawee Wattana sub-district in Sai Noi district of Nonthaburi and took a male, identified only as “Warongchai”, into custody. The arrest warrant had been issued by the Bangkok South Criminal Court. A car, a black T-shirt and a cellphone were among 11 items seized for examination.

Other police teams raided four other locations in the Pathumwan area of the capital and took seven suspects into custody.

All eight suspects were taken to the Metropolitan Police Bureau for finger printing. They were then taken to Thung Mahamek police station for questioning.

Two perpetrators on a motorcycle stopped at a bus stop near the Sacred Heart Convent School on Sunthorn Kosa Road on Saturday November 11th. The pillion passenger dismounted and opened fire at a group of students from the Rajamangala University of Technology, Uthenthawai campus, who were gathered at the bus stop.

One of the bullets hit a school teacher, Sarida Sinprasert, who died at the scene. One of the students was fatally wounded and died last Sunday in King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital.
