At present, prices are between 5,400 and 6,000 baht per ton, they claimed.
One of their representatives told reporters that they want the government to guarantee paddy prices at 12,000 baht per ton and implement price control measures on farming materials, such as fertilisers and insecticides.
They also asked the government for a two-year debt repayment moratorium.
The farmers carried placards, one of which read: "Fertilisers and insecticides are expensive, while rice prices are really low." If their demands are not met, they said they will escalate their protests.
