The Government Housing Bank will set aside a fund of one billion baht to be extended to people whose houses are damaged by tropical storm Pa Buk which is wreaking havoc in southern Thailand.
GHB managing director Chatchai Sirilai said today that the bank would waive interest for four instalments and would charge an interest rate of MRR-2.50 percent for the fifth up to 16th instalments and MRR-2.0 percent for the 17th to 24th instalments and MRR-1.00 percent for the third year until the end of the housing contracts.
He said people affected by the natural disaster could seek additional loans or new loans from the bank to build new houses in case they are damaged beyond repairs.
The maximum amount of loans is set at one million baht for each individual, said Mr Chatchai, adding that customers could also seek debt refinancing with the bank if they are not able to pay their debts but the period of refinancing must not exceed one year and four months and the interest rate will be waived for the first four months and the interest rate charged will be one percent for the fifth until the 16th month.
In case the customs are dead or disabled, the bank will charge 0.01 percent interest rate for the rest of the contracts.
Chatchai said customers can now contact the bank until the end of the year with any branches of the bank.

Tourism deputy permanent secretary Santi Pawai said any tourists who need help can contact the ministry by calling 02-3560662 or 02-3560668 or 065-5041484.
