Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation is due to file a complaint with Bang Phlat district police in Bangkok this afternoon (Thursday), against the wife of Singaporean Daryl Young, a suspect in the Forex 3-D scam, for allegedly abetting his escape attempt.

Pol Maj Suriya Singhakamol, acting director-general of the DSI, said today that former model Sarah Casinghini was seen at Phuket airport, when her husband was prevented from boarding a plane bound for Singapore.

Suriya, former director of the Central Institute of Forensic Science, replaced DSI chief Triyarith Temahivong as acting DSI chief on Wednesday.

Of the third group of 16 suspects, wanted for their alleged involvement in the Forex-3D currency futures Ponzi scheme, 15 have acknowledged the charges against them, but have denied involvement. The 16th, a foreigner, has already left Thailand.

The DSI acting chief said that Young, who denied all the charges filed against him, asked to submit a written statement to the DSI within 15 days. He requested bail, but that was rejected by the court on the grounds that he might try to leave the country.

Regarding Casinghini, Suriya said that evidence obtained by the DSI to date has not implicated her in the scam.

Forex 3-D was a currency futures investment scheme, created by a forex exchange company, called RMS Familia. Several entertainment celebrities were also implicated in the scam.
