Doi Inthanon records minus zero temperature for first time this year

The country’s highest mountain peak, Doi Inthanon in Chom Thong district of the northern province of Chiang Mai recorded -1 degree Celsius for the first this year on Wednesday morning, according to the Doi Inthanon national park.

The park said that the temperature at Kiew Mae Pan, a popular vantage point for catching a glimpse of panoramic view of surrounding mountains and the morning sea of fog was registered at 1 degree Celsius this morning.

Frost or Moei Kharb as locally called appeared on the ground and on plant leaves over a wide area on the mountain top, causing excitement among tourists.

However, the Meteorological Department said that the cold weather would be short-lived and it would gradually warm up tomorrow until December 4 with the mercury rising 2-4 degrees from November 30 till December 4.  Morning fog was predicted with heavy fog in some places and with isolated rainfall in the northern, northeastern, central and eastern regions.

For Bangkok and its peripherals, minimum temperature on Thursday morning is predicted at 23-25 degrees Celsius and maximum temperature at 32-33 degrees Celsius.
