DNA from 2 dead children are parental match to Songsak and ex-partner

Analysis of DNA from two children, whose remains were dumped on wasteland in Bang Sue district in 2013 and 2014 respectively, revealed a parental match to murder suspect Songsak and his former partner Jesada, according to Pol Maj-Gen Noppasilp Poonsawat, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, who is overseeing the investigation into multiple child murders.

One of the two victims died from a fractured skull and brain haemorrhage and the other was found to have died from suffocation, he said, adding that the results of DNA analysis of two bone fragments, found on vacant land in Phahonyothin Soi 56 this week, is not yet known.

Meanwhile, Songsak and Jesada have been seeking public donations since July to raise funds to take care of a 4-year-old girl born to Sunan, the current partner of Songsak, who is blind, and police are investigating whether the child’s blindness was inflicted by the murder suspect.

A relative of the girl, Sangworn, went to Bang Khen police station today (Friday) to meet with Pol Maj-Gen Noppasilp, in the company of Kan Chom Phalang, who had reported alleged child abuse being committed by Songsak.

Sangworn, who claims to be the girl’s uncle, told the police that he and the mother of Sunan, the girl’s mother, had raised the girl until she was two, when Songsak and Sunan took her back. He said the child was normal and there were no signs of disfigurement or blindness when she was under their care.

Police said that 3,558 baht in public donations have been transferred to the bank accounts of Songsak and his former partner, Jesada. Four of their five children have died since 2013 and are believed to have been murdered by Songsak, with their bodies being disposed of on waste ground in Bang Sue district.

Songsak is currently charged with assault causing death and destroying evidence (obstruction), say police, adding that murder charges will be filed against him when more evidence is available.
