The Chanthaburi police raided the house of Aekkachart Meephrom today, after the provincial issued a warrant for his arrest on a charge of negligence causing the death of Thanakarn Kanthee, known online as “Bank Lester”.
Aekkachart allegedly challenged Thanakarn, who suffered a mental impairment, to drink an amount of whisky in one gulp, offering him 30,000 baht if he could do it. Thanakarn accepted the challenge, but lost consciousness during the act and was later pronounced dead.
Pol Ma-Gen Niphon Boonkerd, the provincial police commander, led about 30 officers in the raid of Aekkachart’s house in Huai Sathorn sub-district of Tha Mai district, to search for evidence of a suspected connection with an online gambling platform.
A handgun and some bank books were found in the house. Aekkachart was later taken to the provincial police command for questioning.
“Bank Lester”, an online influencer, was well-known for his rap singing while selling leis, to earn money to support his grandmother. He was also hired by some online content providers to perform various crazy acts, such as eating unhygienic food and lubricating gel.
