Chonburi police had to shield a Chinese national, accused of murdering Thai transwoman, from angry relatives during a re-enactment yesterday at the apartment where the crime took place.
The victim’s father told police that he will pursue the case to the very end, to seek justice for his child.
The suspect, identified as Fu Tongyung, was arrested at Suvarnabhumi International Airport on Saturday, as he was about to board a flight to Kunming, China.
Chonburi police commander, Pol Maj Gen Tawatkiat Jindakuansanong, said the case shocked the public because the victim had been mutilated and some internal organs were missing.
An initial investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect had connected through the WeChat messaging application and met at the apartment.
CCTV footage shows the suspect going downstairs to admit the victim on April 25, before they both went upstairs.
Witnesses told police they heard sounds of an argument around 1am, which lasted about half an hour before it went quiet.
The suspect was seen again on CCTV the following day at around 7am, carrying a plastic bag.
Police believe the suspect may have become angry after discovering that the victim was a transwoman.
Tawatkiat quoted the suspect as saying that he removed the victim’s heart and breast implants, imitating scenes from TV series he had watched.
At first, the suspect denied the allegations, but later confessed when confronted with the evidence, according to Tawatkiat.
