The director of Rayong Hospital has denied online reports claiming that he will not pursue legal action against a man who allegedly slapped a nurse twice.
Dr Pusit Subsompon said his hospital has already filed a police report, after gathering evidence, including CCTV footage and witness testimonies, adding “My hospital will not tolerate any violence and will get justice for the nurse. The nurse and other medical personnel have been traumatised by the incident.”
The nurse, who suffered facial bruises, received medical attention after the incident.
The director said the incident has severely impacted the morale of hospital staff, as the nurse was simply performing her duty when the violence occurred.
The incident took place at around 8.30am on February 16, when a woman brought her child to the ICU to visit her mother.
The nurse reportedly raised her voice to warn the woman not to bring the child into the sanitised ICU room.
The woman then left the room and told her husband about the incident. He allegedly approached the nurse and slapped her twice.
