Police have launched a manhunt for a lone male suspect who robbed a gold shop in a Ratchadapisek shopping mall in Bangkok’s Huai Khwang district. He took a five-baht weight (75.8g) solid gold bracelet, worth about 200,000 baht.
According to witnesses, the suspect wore a white cap, face mask, black T-shirt and black trousers. He carried a shoulder bag. He was spotted walking near the gold shop, located on the second floor of the mall, a couple of times before walking into the shop.
A shop employee claimed that the robber asked to see a gold bracelet, which he examined for a while before leaving without buying it. He returned about 10 minutes later and asked to see a bigger bracelet, claiming that he wanted to buy it for his girlfriend.
The robber again looked at it for a while, snatched it and sped away, but left behind a gun magazine and a lighter, which he accidentally dropped during his escape.
Police checked CCTV and found a suspect riding a motorcycle in the direction of Huai Khwang intersection. A warrant will be sought for his arrest.
