High-profile lawyer Sittra Biabungkerd and a business woman were sentenced to one year and four months in prison each today, after they were found guilty of defaming Suphachai Phosu, former deputy House Speaker and two other people.
Sittra and the business woman, Chorchat Tochuwong, were also ordered to pay compensation, amounting to 1.1 million baht, to the three plaintiffs.
The two defendants were accused of holding a press conference during which they made false statements about Suphachai, Suphanee Phosu and Thanaboworn Sirikunakornkul, damaging their reputation.
