Police at Chokchai police station in Bangkok are seeking an arrest warrant from the court for a Chinese national on a charge of manslaughter over the death of a female escort.
On February 9, the 22-year-old woman, from an escort agency, is reported to have checked into a hotel with a Chinese male, who had left the hotel the next morning. When hotel staff checked the room, they found the woman lying naked and unconscious on the bed and alerted the police immediately.
Chokchai police say that the woman, identified only as ‘Airada’, was already dead when they arrived at the scene. Some narcotics were found in the hotel room. The woman’s body was taken to the Police General Hospital for an autopsy.
Police report that the victim’s family took her body back home for a funeral and she was a cremated on February 13th.
The victim’s family remains suspicious about Airada’s death and met with Chokchai police yesterday, to press charges against the unnamed Chinese national and the agency.
The victim’s sister, ‘Anyarat’, told the police that the agency had offered the family tens of thousands of baht in exchange for dropping the case, adding that the agency also claimed that the victim was addicted to drugs.
Anyarat said that the agency had turned down her request for information about its Chinese client, who purchased the escort service of the victim, claiming that all the information had been deleted from the smart phone.
A police enquiry officer said that police have initially charged the Chinese man with manslaughter and with refusing to help the victim, adding that they believe that he has not left Thailand yet.
