Thailand’s Supreme Administrative Court has upheld the Central Administrative Court’s decision to order the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to disclose to anti-graft activist Veera Somkwamkid details of its investigation into over 20 luxury wristwatches, seen being worn in public by former Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan.

The Supreme Court’s decision in the case between Veera and the NACC was read this morning (Friday) by the Central Administrative Court.

After the NACC ruled by 5:3 votes in December 2018 to clear Prawit of making a false assets declaration to the anti-graft watchdog, the anti-corruption activist took the wristwatch scandal, implicating Prawit, to the Central Administrative Court, seeking disclosure by the NACC of its findings and a summary of the opinions of each commissioner, under the Official Information Act.

After the military coup in 2014, General Prawit was seen in public wearing various luxury wristwatches on numerous occasions. He claimed that the wristwatches were borrowed from a former classmate, who has since passed away, and that all the wristwatches had been returned to the deceased’s family.
