Coronation ceremony to be held during May 4-6

The coronation ceremony for His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn is set to be held during May 4-6, the Royal Household Bureau announced on the New Year’s day.

The announcement said that HM the King felt it was appropriate time now for the coronation ceremony to be held after the president of the National Legislative Assembly had earlier acknowledged the King’s accession to the throne.

According to the official schedule, the coronation ceremony will be held with His Majesty the King granting an audience to members of the Royal Family, the Privy Council, the cabinet and high-ranking officials on May 4 for them to express their well wishes to HM King.

On May 5, His Majesty the King will present Royal titles to members of the Royal Family and before  gracing the city in a royal motorcade.

The Royal Household Bureau said that HM the King wants the Royal barge procession to be held later this year in conjunction with the Royal Kathin ceremony.

On May 6, HM the King will appear on the balcony of the Phutthaisawan Prasat Throne Hall to allow members of the public to join in the celebrations of the coronation ceremony and to express their well wishes to the King.  Later on, the King will grant an audience to members of the diplomatic corps at the Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace to celebrate the auspicious occasion.
