Commerce Ministry agrees to 2 baht per kilo increase on white sugar

Thailand’s Central Committee on the Price of Goods and Services (CCP) has agreed to allow the ex-refinery price of white sugar to increase by two baht per kilogram and is lifting the control on the wholesale and retail prices of sugar.

Wattanasak Sua-iam, director-general of the Internal Trade Department, said that the CCP did, however, agree to keep white sugar in the list of controlled goods.

The ex-refinery price of white sugar will be adjusted from 19 baht to 21 baht per kilogram while pure while sugar will now be priced at 22 baht, up from 20 baht/kg, in line with the sugarcane price structure agreed by the Sugarcane and Sugar Committee, he said.
