Chon Buri records no new COVID-19 infections today

Not a single new COVID-19 infection has been reported in Thailand’s coastal province of Chon Buri today, one of the five Red Zone provinces.

Dr. Vichai Thanasophon, deputy provincial health chief of this eastern province, said Tuesday that this is the first time since December 19th, when infections were first reported in the new wave, that no new cases have been found.

He said, however, that there is still the need for pro-active screening, as there may still be people who are infected but asymptomatic.

Cumulative infections in the province, to date, are 647 with one fatality. 450 infected people have recovered and 196 others are still being treated in hospitals.

Health officials in Si Racha district are due to carry out pro-active screenings today among employees of restaurants and entertainment venues, motorcycle taxi and tuk-tuk drivers.

He said anyone who is not sure whether they are infected can come for a free test at Wat Pibbulsanhatham on No 9 road as of 9am.

Of all the 647 cases so far recorded in the province, Si Racha district tops the list with 306, followed by 238 in Bang Lamung district, 38 in Muang district, 23 in Sattahip, 13 in Ban Bung, 8 in Phanat Nikhom and one case on Si Chang Island. There are also 20 cases of people in Rayong province who came to Chon Buri for treatment.
