Move Forward party leader Chaithawat Tulathon officially became the Leader of the Opposition today, after receiving the royal command at a ceremony held in parliament.

He knelt and wai’d to pay respects to an image of His Majesty the King as he received the command.

The ceremony was witnessed by MPs from all opposition parties, except the Democrats. They congratulated Chaithawat after the ceremony had finished.

Speaking to reporters later, Chaithawat said he will hold an informal meeting with representatives of opposition parties as soon as possible, but it will have to wait until after the New Year holidays, because the Democrat party has not yet convened a meeting of its new executive.
