Cabinet portfolio allocation before selection of PM – Anutin

Bhumjaithai party leader Anutin Charnvirakul said today (Tuesday) that the Pheu Thai-led coalition should settle the allocation of cabinet portfolios before the selection of the prime minister by parliament.

He said he believes the other parties in the coalition share his view on this matter, adding that it has been discussed between his party and Pheu Thai, but not in detail.

He went on to say that the party is not too concerned over whether it will be reallocated its current cabinet portfolios, noting that it depends on the situation and mutual agreement of all parties concerned.

The coalition now comprises nine parties, excluding the Palang Pracharath and United Thai Nation, which the Pheu Thai party has not yet invited to join, although members of those two parties have expressed interest in doing so.

As the second biggest party in the coalition and third largest in the House, with 71 MPs, the Bhumjaithai party leader said that he is still waiting to see if the Palang Pracharath and United Thai Nation will join the coalition, adding that this will be a factor in the allocation of cabinet seats, which must be calculated and agreed upon by all parties.
