Cabinet OKs tourism package to lure more foreign tourists

The package includes double-entry visa for six months for tourists who apply for tourist visa at Thai embassies or consular offices abroad with visa fee remaining at 1,000 baht and re-entry permit for tourists to visit neighbouring countries and then return to Thailand without the need to apply for entry visa and can stay on in Thailand within the period specified in the visa.

Also, tourists who visit Thailand and then visit neighbouring countries and return to Thailand will not be required to have their visas stamped at the ports of entry within a period of 30 days since they first leave the country.

On top of that, Tourism and Sports Minister Veerasak Kowsurat said that the Cabinet also endorsed special discounts at malls under the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale “Passport Privileges” campaign running from November 15 to January 15 in cooperation with product producers, shopping malls, community malls and credit card firms to lure tourists to spend more in Thailand.

Last but not least, more VAT refund facilities will be opened up at shopping mals and international airports for tourists.
Earlier last week, the Cabinet waived the 2,000 baht visa fee for tourists applying for visas on arrival for tourists from 21 countries, including China, for a two-month period.
