Cabinet approves new wage rates for skilled workers in Thailand

The Thai cabinet approved new pay rates for three groups of workers today (Tuesday), covering 16 occupations, as proposed by the Labour Ministry.

Construction workers:

  • Gypsum board installation: Level 1: 450 baht/day; Level 2: 595 baht/day
  • Draughtsmen: Level 1: 645 baht/day
  • Tilers: Level 1: 450 baht/day; Level 2: 550 baht; Level 3: 650 bath/day
  • Building painters: Level 1: 465 baht/day; Level 2: 600 baht/day
  • Aerated concrete layers: Level 1: 475 baht/day; Level 2: 575 baht/day

Industrial arts:

  • Decorative item workers: Level 1: 450 baht/day; Level 2: 550 baht/day; Level 3: 650 baht/day
  • Furniture assembly: Level 1: 430 baht/day; Level 2: 550 baht/day
  • Antique decorative item workers: Level 1: 525 baht/day
  • Nielloware workers: Level 1: 625 baht/day

Services:

  • Thai Hand therapists: Level 1: 460 baht/day; Level 2: 475 baht/day
  • Bakers: Level 1: 400 baht/day; Level 2: 505 baht/day
  • Front office receptionists: Level 1: 440 baht/day; Level 2: 565 baht/day
  • Waiters or waitresses in a restaurants/hotel bars or restaurants: Level 1: 440 baht/day
  • Hairdressers: Level 1: 440 baht/day; Level 2: 510 baht/day; Level 3: 650 baht/day
  • Barbers: Level 1: 430 baht/day; Level 2: 500 baht/day; Level 3: 630 baht/day
  • Attendants to elderly people: Level 1: 500 baht/day

The new wages will come into effect 90 days after the ministerial announcement is published in the Royal Gazette.

Thailand’s minimum wages vary in different provinces, ranging from 313 to 336 baht per day.
