Brazilian president tests positive for Covid-19

SAO PAULO (Agencies) — Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, he said in a television interview on Tuesday.

Bolsonaro, who has consistently downplayed the pandemic, revealed the test result during nationally televised remark.

“It came back positive,” he told reporters from behind a mask.

CNN affiliate CNN Brasil quoted Bolsonaro’s press office as saying that the president was being treated with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin as he awaited the result of his fourth Covid-19 test in four months.
