The Election Commission (EC) has moved to prevent irregularities in the local elections. with investigating complaints and violations of election laws, according to an EC press statement.
The centre will operate from June 20-28, with office hours from 8.30am to 7pm, to receive tips, examine complaints and expedite legal action against election law violators.
In addition, the EC has integrated its operations with the police, provincial election inspectors, investigation and inquiry officers, and intelligence agencies from both central and regional offices.
Rapid-response teams will be deployed from June 19-28 to conduct proactive monitoring, surveillance and investigations into suspected election fraud in all areas.
The EC reiterated that vote-buying and other violations of election laws will be subject to investigation and strict enforcement.
Convicted offenders will face criminal penalties, political sanctions and the revocation of electoral rights in accordance with the law, the EC said.
The commission also urged members of the public to report any information or evidence related to election fraud, stressing that every tip-off is important in safeguarding the integrity and fairness of the elections.
The EC pledged that no election-related corruption will be ignored, adding that all reports will be thoroughly investigated and all offenders prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
