Residents of 11 riverside communities in Bangkok, located outside the protective flood walls, have been advised to track the water situation in the Chao Phraya River closely, which is expected to rise by 30-50cm over the next 3 days.

Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang said today (Thursday) that an average of 3,069 cubic meters/second of water werebeing released through the Chao Phraya Dam in Chainat province into the river as of 6am this morning.

He assured, however, that most of Bangkok is still safe from the rising river, noting that the water level, measured at Pak Klong Talad, remains at 1.24 metres below the top of the flood walls.

High tide in the river is forecast for 7.28pm tonight, but still below the top of the flood walls.

In the past 24 hours, Bangkok saw moderate rain fall, with the highest levels measured at 35.0mm in Sai Mai district, 18.5mm in Ratchathewi district, 17.5mm in Bang Kho Laem district and 17.0mm in Din Daeng district.
