Bangkok set up 14 COVID-19 screening checkpoints around the city

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has ordered 11 districts in the capital to set up 14 COVID-19 screening checkpoints, in the light of the rising number of new, locally-transmitted cases across Thailand.

The checkpoints will be on the following inbound thoroughfares:

  • In front of Big C on Chaengwattana Road
  • In front of Don Muang airport on Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road and expressway
  • The intersection under the Mahanakorn expressway on Suwintawong Road
  • In front of the Esso gas station near Bearing BTS station on Sukhumvit Road
  • In front of the Nation office building on Bangna-Trad Road.
  • At Bangchak tollbooth on Burapha Withi elevated expressway
  • In front of Toyota service center on Ratchapruek Road
  • At the intersection of Phutthamonthon Sai 3 and Borommaratchachonnani Roads
  • Under the Bhumibol Bridge on Suksawat Road
  • In front of PTT station at Soi 92 on Rama 2 Road
  • In front of the BMA Local Museum in Bang Khun Thian
  • In front of the Asia University on Petchkasem Road
  • in front of Suksanareewittaya on Ekkachai road

The BMA has already ordered the closure of all education institutes, including tutoring schools, until 17th January.
The following types of businesses in Bangkok must also close until further notice:

  • Nightclubs, pubs and bars
  • Water and theme parks
  • Playgrounds
  • Snooker, pool and billiard clubs
  • Gaming arcades and internet shops
  • Animal games venues, such as racetracks and cockfighting rings
  • Daycare facilities, both for small children and the elderly
  • Boxing rings
  • Martial arts schools and gymnasia
  • All sports venues and fitness clubs
  • Spas and massage parlours
  • Event spaces
  • Beauty salons and tattoo parlours
  • Bowling alleys, Ice and roller-skating rinks and rollerblade parks
  • Dance institutes
