The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will launch its mobile vaccination service next week, to provide free inoculations to people living in various communities in the capital, said Pol Cpt Pongsakorn Kwanmuang, spokesman for the city’s administration, yesterday (Wednesday).

A fleet of blue buses, which has been converted into mobile vaccination units, was unveiled to the media yesterday. Each vehicle is fitted out with medical equipment, including a fridge for the storage of vaccines, first aid kits, stretchers, a portable automated external defibrillator (AED).

Each bus will be staffed by a doctor, nurses and other health officials.

Pongsakorn said the BMA will vaccinate as many people it can as quickly as possible, adding that the buses will visit COVID-19 high-risk areas in Bangkok as soon as it receives the vaccines from the Ministry of Public Health.

He said mobile vaccination units have been deployed in several Asian countries, such as China and Vietnam, and the BMA has adopted the idea for implementation in Bangkok, which will offer convenience to many people who have problems of travelling or who cannot go to the vaccination centres on week days.
