The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) announced today (Saturday) an extension to the closure of entertainment venues, such as pubs, bars, karaoke bars, until further notice.

The announcement is in line with the decision of the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) to keep night entertainment venues closed due to concern that their reopening could result in a surge of COVID-19 infections, by the Omicron variant in particular.

Eateries which meet the SHA PLUS standards, as set by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, or the Public Health Ministry’s Thai Stop COVID 2 Plus standards can, however, serve alcohol until 11pm.

Pubs, bars, karaoke bars and other entertainment venues which have converted to eateries can also serve alcohol until 11pm if they meet the standards.

Violators can be subject to one-year in prison and/or a fine from 20,000 baht to 100,000 baht on conviction.
