Ballots in Chonburi not being hole-punched after counting

Election observers in Chon Buri province have protested about the officials counting the ballots, claiming that they did not punch holes in ballots once they were counted, as required by the rules.

The observers said there were about 200 ballots that were counted but not punched.

The protest suspended the counting at polling stations number 32 and 34 in Constituency 1 in the Saen Suk area.

Upon learning of the protest, Witchuda Mekanuwong, director of the Chon Buri Election Commission, examined the matter and confirmed that the observers were correct, but she claimed that the officials had not intentionally broken the rules.

Nonetheless, Witchuda said that they will be investigated.

After the matter was resolved, the counting re-started.

Witchuda added that people watching the counting also complained that the area was dark and should have more lighting to facilitate the count.
