About 100 members of the Bad Student Movement rallied in front of Thailand’s Ministry of Education this afternoon (Friday) to demand the resignation of Education Minister Nataphol Teepsuwan, accusing him of failing to solve alleged abuses in schools by teachers and of implying that the student activists are being “manipulated”.

Travelling in one truck, the protesting students visited Samsen Wittayalai, Saint Joseph Convent, Thepsirin and Wat Ratchabopit schools, before arriving at the Education Ministry.

Their letter demanding the resignation of Mr. Nataphol was received by Mr. Supat Champathong, the Permanent Secretary and a few senior officials.

During the rally, the students asked to take their truck into the compound of the Ministry, due to heavy rain. They called off the rally at about 6.30pm as they chanted “Down with the Dictator. Cheers for Democracy.”
